Frequently Asked Questions

Do you only supply the memorials featured in your brochure?

No, we can provide quotes for any memorial you may have seen elsewhere in a cemetery/churchyard or in another brochure.

How long does it take?

It usually takes about 10-12 weeks to supply a new memorial, but if we have the memorial in stock and sufficient time has passed after the burial, it could be considerably sooner.

How long after a burial should I wait to erect a memorial?

In some cases it is possible to erect a memorial in a short period of time if we have the memorial in stock and the cemetery will allow this to be able to happen, but in most cemeteries or churchyards we would advise you to wait between 9 and 12 months after the burial, depending on individual situations and regulations.

What area do you cover?

We predominately supply memorials to Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, but we will consider supplying in other areas which may incur a small extra charge.

Is it possible to see what the finished headstone will look like?

Yes, we always show you how the lettering would be laid out for you and the shape of the memorial you have selected on a scaled layout of the headstone with inscription for your approval before any work is started.

Will I get a guarantee?

Yes, all new stonework is guaranteed for 10 years and you will be issued with a certificate on completion. The guarantee covers workmanship and material. Memorial subsidence would not be covered in the guarantee and is out of the control of Offley Memorials Ltd.

What about insurance?

Insurance is highly recommended, unforeseen circumstances can happen and this would put your mind to rest should anything untoward happen, malicious damage, vandalism and subsidence are just three of the many risks covered.

What is an anchor system?

It is an approved safety system which we use in accordance with B.R.A.M.M regulations; this is to help prevent the memorial from toppling over and causing damage to the memorial and causing harm to graveside visitors.

What about cemetery/churchyard fees?

These charges are paid directly to the relevant authority; we do this on your behalf.

Each cemetery/churchyard has their own set of fees (and regulations) that apply to the different kinds of work being carried out (new memorials, additional inscriptions etc.) This is in addition to the cost of the memorial and is out of our control.

What is BRAMM?
